About Business Side

Business Side is a weekly briefing on the business of media.

Here at Business Side, we’ve spent our entire careers in media. David was chief of staff at The Atlantic, and Michael worked in news at Atlantic Media, Google, and Facebook. Alongside writing this newsletter, David advises media companies, and Michael leads the digital team at Government Executive.

The two of us first met as interns at Atlantic Media, when our cubicles were right next to each other. We’d meet up for lunch in the common area, mostly trading stories about our lives in Washington DC. Before long we found ourselves going back and forth on long email chains, brainstorming about the future of media.

Years later, in Business Side, we’re still brainstorming. Thank you for joining us.
